Care for Men's Oily Skin

How to Care for Men's Oily Skin

It's been years since you've graduated from high school, and yet you're still experiencing pimples, dirty pores and oily skin. Fortunately, there are many products designed to take care of men's oily skin, and reduce the incidence of blackheads, blemishes and shiny foreheads as well.

1.    Step 1
Determine whether or not your are suffering from oily skin. Men with oily skin usually experience clogged and dirty skin pores, acne and shiny skin, with lines and wrinkles nearly non-existent. Oily skin usually appears on the face, chest and back.

2.    Step 2
Care for your oily skin by exfoliating at least three times per week. Exfoliating involves removing dead skin and excess oils by using a specialized skin cleanser that may contain slightly abrasive ingredients. This cleanser is used in conjunction with an abrasive sponge or loofah in a circular motion over affected areas of the skin, and is washed off with cool water.
3.    Step 3
Use a mild facial cleanser at least once a day in order to properly care for men's oily skin. Use warm water with the cleanser to open up the skin pores and hair follicles to remove excess dirt and oil. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean, soft towel, as opposed to rubbing vigorously.
4.    Step 4
Apply an astringent skin toner or oil-free moisturizer after you have washed the areas of oily skin. Avoid using any type of oil-based moisturizer or soap to care for your oily skin, opting instead for glycerin-based products. Some astringent toners can actually tilt the scales and dry your skin out completely, so use these products in moderation.
5.    Step 5
Avoid excessive exposure to the sun or tanning beds when you care for your oily skin. Excessive UV rays from tanning can aggravate your oily skin and increase the number of blemishes.
6.    Step 6
Improve men's oily skin by restricting your diet. Excessively fatty or greasy foods can increase the oiliness of your skin and cause blemishes. Drinking plenty of water and eating a high-fiber diet will help you to maintain a normal skin type.
